1. Map-Based Sensor Location Search and Navigation

   As an IT Infrastructure Manager, I want to search for sensors and immediately see which map(s) they appear on, so that I can quickly navigate to the relevant monitoring visualization without manually checking multiple maps, especially when troubleshooting issues or assessing the impact of network hierarchy changes.

   For example, we might have about fifteen cards with around twenty sensors each. It would be useful to be able to quickly identify, through a search, which map a sensor for a piece of equipment is located on. Today, we need to go through all the maps and all their sensors to identify which piece of equipment each sensor belongs to, and when we change its hierarchy, this impacts the alerts displayed on the maps.

2. PRTG Configuration Compliance Export

   As a PRTG user subject to audits (DORA and others), I want to generate a report detailing the configuration of PRTG, including all sensors and their respective limits, so that I can fulfill audit requirements. The report should be exportable in PDF or Excel format.

3. Enhance PRTG Maps with Greater Customization and HTML5 Integration

   As an IT Infrastructure Manager, I want advanced PRTG Maps with HTML5-based editing and dependency visualization, so that I can create professional-grade infrastructure diagrams that dynamically reflect real-time monitoring status.

   The current PRTG Maps feature is powerful for quick visual dashboards, but it becomes challenging to build complex or customized diagrams for large environments. The existing interface is limited when aligning icons, linking elements, or visually representing dependencies between sensors, probes, and devices.

   I propose extending the PRTG Maps functionality with:

   • Full HTML5-based editing and rendering, replacing the legacy map editor to allow smoother design, drag-and-drop alignment, and modern visuals.

   • Advanced customization options, such as custom layers, shapes, color themes, and font control.

   • Dependency linking, where icons or shapes dynamically reflect the state of related sensors or devices (for example, changing color or blinking when a linked sensor is in error).

4. Dashboard Access for MSP Customers via DMZ

   As an MSP, we manage multiple customers using a central PRTG core server, with each customer having their own probe reporting back to our core. For security reasons, we cannot allow customers direct access to our central core server from the internet or their networks.

   We need a way to provide customers with read-only dashboard/map access to their own monitoring data without compromising the security of our central infrastructure.

   Proposed Solution:
   The ability to deploy a separate PRTG application server component with restricted permissions that can be installed in a DMZ or customer-accessible location. This component would:

   • Connect to the central core server to retrieve monitoring data
   • Provide read-only access only
   • Be limited to displaying data from specific parts of the PRTG device tree (e.g., only devices/sensors relevant to that specific customer)
   • Serve dashboards and maps without exposing the central core server
   • This would allow us to securely share monitoring information with customers while maintaining strict access controls and network segmentation.

7. Report Templates Based on Sensor Status

   As a network administrator/systems engineer, I need a report template based on current sensor status. With this template, I can create an automated daily email report that summarizes the status of all monitored sensors (total counts by status: up, warning, down) and provides detailed information about problematic sensors (device name, sensor name, and error messages). This would allow me to quickly assess the overall health of our infrastructure each morning and confirm that PRTG monitoring is functioning properly.

8. Multi-Core Dashboards: Status history

   As a user of the Multi-Core Dashboards feature, I want to be able to see a history of statuses over a custom time period instead of just the current status.

   ACs:
   * PRTG Data Exporter can be configured to retain statuses for a predefined time period
   * The Multi-Core Dashboards feature provides out of the box dashboards which can show the change in status for certain objects over a custom time period

9. Sensor map element with channel selection

   As a system administrator, I would like to use my sensors in a PRTG map and select the relevant channel, without having to duplicate the sensor and pin a different channel. Currently, the sensor map element only represents the main channel and does not allow me to select the channel I am most interested in. A new approach would increase flexibility and prevent duplicate sensor requests, which would put more strain on the system.
