  1. As an IT Infrastructure Manager, I want PRTG to automatically renew its web server SSL certificates using ACME protocols so that I can ensure continuous secure access to the monitoring system without manual intervention or risk of service disruption from expired certificates.

With the upcoming SSL certificate lifecycle changes requiring certificates with 47-day lifespans by March 2029, manual certificate renewal for the PRTG webserver will become impractical and operationally burdensome. The user needs an automated solution using ACME (Automatic Certificate Management Environment) to handle certificate renewals without manual intervention, ensuring continuous secure access to the PRTG web interface.

  2. As an IT Administrator I want to be able to add or delete channels of a sensor versus recreating the entire sensor so that I can avoid redoing work when there is a device change. For example if I were to add an SPF to a switch or router and would need to add a channel or remove a channel.

  4. As a PRTG administrator, I want the ability to check for available updates without immediately triggering a full installer download, so that I can quickly verify if a new version exists and better control when updates are downloaded and installed.

Currently, if an administrator clicks “Check for Latest Update and Download” in the PRTG UI, the system immediately downloads the full installer — even if the installed version is already up to date.

This behavior significantly increases the time required to simply verify if a new version is available. In environments where update timing is tightly controlled (e.g., only during…

  7. As an IT Infrastructure Manager responsible for maintaining critical monitoring systems, I want to receive advance notification of stable PRTG releases with configurable auto-update deferral options so that I can review release notes, plan appropriate maintenance windows, and ensure updates don't disrupt critical monitoring operations while still benefiting from automated deployment.

E.g. we should have an option to auto-update 7 days after stable release is available.

Although there is an option to auto-download and manually install, I would prefer auto-install, provided there is adequate deferral time to review release notes.

As a Network Administrator managing multiple devices in a hierarchical structure, I want child devices to be automatically paused when I schedule a maintenance window for their parent device, so that I don't receive false alarm notifications from dependent systems during planned maintenance activities.

  9. As an IT Infrastructure Manager using PRTG MultiBoard to manage multiple PRTG instances, I want to specify the destination server address when transferring probes between PRTG instances, so that transferred probes maintain connectivity when the destination server is behind NAT without requiring manual post-transfer reconfiguration.

Currently, when using PRTG MultiBoard for Probe Transfer, it automatically deploys the local LAN IP of the destination server to the probe. If the server is behind NAT we then lose connectivity to the probe. It will be useful either to allow the hostname to be set in the tool or pick the address up…

  10. As a Network Engineer troubleshooting network outages, I want to access historical syslog messages from a paused Syslog Receiver sensor so that I can analyze log entries that occurred before the dependency failure without having to manually resume the sensor and break the intended monitoring logic.
