Thanks for this — it's a well-articulated request, and you're not alone in asking for it. Native, automatic topology mapping is on our roadmap.
One update on the framing: UVexplorer is no longer a third-party tool. Paessler acquired it, so this capability is now part of the Paessler family. Today it runs as a standalone application with a basic integration into the classic PRTG UI, and we're working to bring topology mapping — including automatic Layer 2/3 discovery, dynamic updates as the network changes, and drill-down into device and sensor details — natively into PRTG via the new UI. In other words, exactly the native experience you're describing.
