1. Enable Custom Report File Upload for PRTG Hosted Monitor Customers

   As an IT Infrastructure Manager using PRTG Hosted Monitor, I want to upload custom report files via the Customer Portal so that I can maintain essential System Availability reports that provide specific business-critical metrics not available through standard PRTG reports or API outputs.

   Our use case: We used to host PRTG on-premise but migrated to the Hosted version last year. We have a custom report we had built to tell us our overall System Availability because none of the stock reports (or API) can give us the output we need. The custom report worked great.

   However, Hosted PRTG doesn't offer any way to upload custom report files, which has been the only limitation/pain point of the Hosted version of PRTG. This leaves a pretty significant gap for us that, frankly, will likely cause us to switch to a different monitoring software within the next 12 months. All we need is the ability to upload custom report files via the File Upload page in the management portal.

2. Enable Identity Provider (IdP)-Initiated SSO for Microsoft Entra ID in PRTG Hosted Monitor

   As an IT Operations Manager, I want my team members to be able to access PRTG directly from our Microsoft My Apps portal so that they can quickly reach our monitoring tools without remembering specific URLs.

   Current Behavior (SP-initiated only):
   The SSO integration only supports Service Provider (SP)-initiated login. A user must first navigate to their specific PRTG instance URL (e.g., my-company.my-prtg.com), enter their email address to trigger the SSO flow, and only then are they redirected to Microsoft for authentication. This is a multi-step process that requires users to remember the specific PRTG URL.
   Desired Behavior (IdP-initiated):
   A user should be able to log into their central Microsoft My Apps portal (myapps.microsoft.com), click on the PRTG application tile, and be automatically and seamlessly logged into their PRTG instance.
   Why this is important:
   IdP-initiated login is a standard feature for modern enterprise SaaS applications. It significantly improves the user experience by providing a single, centralized place for users to access all their corporate applications. This reduces friction, eliminates the need to bookmark specific login pages, and aligns with modern security practices of managing access through a central identity provider.
   Technical Implementation:
   This would require PRTG Hosted Monitor to provide a dedicated "Sign-on URL" that can be configured in the Microsoft Entra Enterprise Application settings to correctly receive and process IdP-initiated SAML or OIDC assertions.

   I would like PRTG Hosted Monitor to provide enhanced logging capabilities to support organizational security requirements and incident investigation:

   • System Event Visibility: Access to system events and service status information to understand instance behavior and operational activities

   • Access Audit Logs: Comprehensive logging of all access to the customer portal (app.my-prtg.com) and PRTG instances for security compliance and unauthorized access prevention

   • Proactive Notifications: Automatic alerts when significant system events occur

   This enhancement would help organizations meet their security compliance requirements while providing the transparency needed for effective monitoring operations.

5. PRTG Cloud Tunnel/Proxy for Secure Mobile Access without VPN

   I'm a long-time user and system administrator, and I'd like to propose a feature that would greatly enhance the usability and security of PRTG for remote monitoring.

   The Problem
   Currently, accessing an on-premise PRTG core server from the mobile app requires a VPN connection. While a VPN is a secure solution, it introduces a layer of complexity for users who need quick access to sensor status, especially for alert acknowledgment. Managing VPN profiles on multiple mobile devices can be cumbersome and presents an access barrier for non-IT personnel who might only need to check system health or acknowledge alerts.

   Exposing the PRTG web interface directly to the internet is not a viable option due to the significant security risks and is strongly discouraged. This leaves a gap for a secure, user-friendly, and lightweight method for remote access.

   The Proposed Solution
   I propose the development of a "PRTG Cloud Tunnel" or "PRTG Cloud Proxy" service. This service would be similar in concept to other secure tunnel solutions (like Cloudflare Tunnels) but would be integrated directly into the PRTG ecosystem.

   The core idea is for the on-premise PRTG core server to establish an outbound, encrypted connection to a Paessler-managed cloud service. This connection would be a reverse proxy or tunnel, allowing the PRTG mobile app to communicate with the on-premise server by routing traffic through the secure Paessler cloud infrastructure.

   This model has several key advantages:

   Enhanced Security: All traffic would be encrypted and would not require inbound firewall rules on the local network. The PRTG core server would only need to make outbound connections, which is a much safer security posture.

   Simplified Access: Users with the mobile app could connect to the PRTG cloud service using their existing PRTG credentials, eliminating the need for VPN setup and management on each device.

   Improved User Experience: A streamlined connection process would allow for faster access to critical monitoring data and quicker response times to alerts.

   Centralized Authentication: The cloud service could handle initial authentication, potentially offloading some processing from the on-premise server and providing a single sign-on experience.

   I believe this feature would be a game-changer, making PRTG even more accessible and robust for today's hybrid work environments. I hope the Paessler team will consider this request for a future roadmap.
