   This would be of great importance after stability — especially as the documentation and forums are confusing on whether the feature already exists.

   I would have many use cases, also outside of a network context: disks where the usual sensor is not supported, unconnected power supplies (for example when a device has 3 slots), load balancer up-/downstream connections, and lastly BFD/BGP peers.
