  1. Provide an official Ansible collection that integrates with PRTG's API v2. This would enable users to automate PRTG configuration management through Ansible playbooks, allowing them to deploy and manage sensors, devices, groups, and settings as part of their existing automation workflows. An Ansible collection would simplify bulk operations, ensure consistent configurations across PRTG instances, and integrate PRTG management into standard IT automation practices.

  2. Provide an official Terraform provider that integrates with PRTG's API v2. This would enable infrastructure-as-code workflows, allowing users to programmatically manage PRTG sensors, devices, groups, and configurations alongside their other infrastructure resources. A Terraform provider would streamline automation, improve consistency across environments, and make PRTG configuration version-controllable and reproducible.

  3. As an IT Operations Manager or Systems Engineer,
I want to integrate AI capabilities with my PRTG monitoring system via an MCP server,
so that I can automate incident analysis, get intelligent insights from monitoring data, create custom AI-powered workflows, and manage incidents through natural language interactions, ultimately reducing response times and improving operational efficiency.

Please vote for this idea if you'd like to be in the early access and design for our MCP which is currently in the lab.

This is more of a building block for those wishing to integrate their own LLMs to PRTG. Use cases include

  4. As an IT Infrastructure Manager, I want to automatically purge monitoring data older than a specified date range from the PRTG Data Exporter so that I can maintain optimal storage utilization and system performance without manual intervention.

The use case would be if I only need something like the last 30 days of data of a certain Metrics Data Profile. The idea would be that I could change the Start date for example from October 1st to October 4th, and the data from October 1st-3rd automatically gets deleted from the database, saving space on the Data Exporter server.
