Native F5 BIG-IP Sensors
As a Network Engineer, I want native F5 BIG-IP sensors (BIG-IP 17.x): LTM Nodes, Pools, Pool Members, Virtual Servers, and System sensors (CPU, Interface, Disk, Cluster). These sensors must auto-discover objects and create channels dynamically.
Customer Need:
Native, out‑of‑the‑box PRTG sensors for F5 BIG‑IP devices, designed similarly to other vendor-specific sensor types (e.g., FortiGate, HPE, NetApp).
These sensors should provide intelligent auto‑discovery and automatic channel creation, instead of requiring SNMP Custom sensors.
We expect sensor types that automatically detect and monitor:
A. LTM Object Sensors (from LOCAL-MIB)
Each of these should be a dedicated native sensor type:
F5 LTM Nodes Sensor
F5 LTM Pools Sensor
F5 LTM Pool Members Sensor
F5 LTM Virtual Servers Sensor
B. System Sensors (from SYSTEM-MIB)
Native system-level sensors, similar to our existing CPU/Disk/Interface sensors:
F5 System Interface Sensor
F5 System CPU Sensor
F5 System Cluster Status Sensor
F5 System Disk Sensor

We use PRTG to replace Solarwinds where giving some snmp details is the only thing I need to provide and then SW discovers all my items Virtual servers, pools pool members ... SO I guess they do a snmp walk withe proper OID to discover those items .Currently I have added only 1 F5 I have6 and I have to pick manually the item I am interested in ( the list was about 800 Items ) .It is really hard to do that and the template cannot work on another F5 as the Virtual servers are different . If you want me to enable iControl I can but I prefer to use only snmp if I have the choice ..Thanks

It seems the iControl REST API can be used as well for monitoring. Please share your experiences with using SNMP or F5's iControl REST API with custom sensors in case you are already monitoring F5.
What has worked well for you? What are the limitations you've encountered? Any insights on performance, reliability, or ease of setup would be valuable as we explore the best approach for native F5 sensors.

This is indeed very important for us
when I have to add the sensors I had to add manually every pool ,virtual servers and pool members that means more than 90 sensors in my case this is really time consuming !
I am surprised it is not yet in the PRTG because F5 is a loadbalancer all Big companies have as they are leader in the Load balancing domain
thanks for your support
