Enable receiving SNMP Traps v3
As a PRTG admin I would like to collect SNMP v3 traps from my devices that support this extra security level. My company and/or customers demand this security step in order to be 100% compliant.
Affected Application
PRTG // PRTG Network Monitor // Sensors and Probe
How does this improve your daily work?
Hi we got several requests from customers who want to receive SNMPv3 Traps in PRTG.
At the moment only v1 and v2c traps are possible to be received.
Our customers request these so to get the software 100% BSI-compliant.
Otherwise they're refraining from procuring the tool at this stage.
How important is this to you?
High - Would really improve my work

This is a very critical feature as a lot of storage vendors dont support normal snmp queries and they rely on SNMP traps and since the threat dynamics are changing every day, customers have made it mandatory to implement a secure monitoring architecture. SNMPv3 traps are supported by competing vendors for a lot of years now and this feature should have been implemented a long time ago but nevertheless it would be great if this can be done on priority.

Hi, our Cybersecurity team is forcing us to use SNMPv3, so we must be able to receive all of those traps, specially from those network appliances not monitorizable by over ways.

Pointless as long as the trap receiver cannot display a status permanently until it is confirmed, but only for a certain interval.

As a network administrator I have a mandate to move from SNMP v2 to SNMP v3 for higher security requirements. I must be able to collect SNMP v3 traps from my network devices so that I can understand operational issues with these devices and keep my network up and running.
