Native asset inventory in PRTG
Knowing exactly what's on your network — and keeping that picture current — is a constant challenge. Spreadsheets go stale the moment they're saved, and stitching together device details from multiple tools is slow and error-prone. Many of you have told us you want a single, trustworthy source of truth for your network assets, right inside PRTG. The current system information tab is only a start.
With our recent acquisition of UVexplorer, we now have proven discovery technology that builds a detailed inventory of every device on your network. Today UVexplorer runs as a standalone application with a basic integration into the classic PRTG UI. We're working to bring this capability natively into PRTG, accessible through the new PRTG UI.
What we're planning:
- Rich detail per device — hardware and model, software and OS, serial numbers, interfaces, VLANs, IP and MAC addresses, and connected endpoints
- An inventory that stays current on its own as devices are added, changed, or removed
- Search and filtering so you can quickly answer questions like "which switches are running this firmware?" or "what's connected to this port?"
- A native experience in the new PRTG UI — not a separate tool to install and manage
Why it matters:
A live, accurate asset inventory saves time on audits, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and security reviews — and it means the devices you monitor and the devices you have are finally the same list.
We'd love your input: which asset details matter most to you, and what would you use this inventory for? Vote and comment to help us prioritize.
