Port Sensor: Support for Sending Raw Binary/Hex Data via the Command Field

As a Satellite Engineer/PRTG network administrator, I would like the ability to send raw binary/hex data through Port sensors command field. Security restrictions limit me from using the EXE/Script Advanced Sensor with a custom script to open a TCP port. With the port sensor I can manage devices on our network that don’t have SNMP.

    Hi Matthew,

    Thank you for your feedback and ideas. We would like to gain a better understanding of your use case and learn about the limitations you are facing. Could you please explain what you would like to achieve in more details?

    Have you tried using the Script v2 sensor for this task? This sensor allows you to use a simple Python script to open a socket and send a request, among other things. It's not as complex as the REST Custom Sensor and may be sufficient for your needs.

    We would advise against adapting the Port Sensor, but we discussed adapting other sensors if necessary.
