Support for AWS Europe Regions (Spain eu-south-2 & Zurich eu-central-2) in AWS Sensors
As a Systems Technician, I want PRTG native AWS sensors to support current European regions so that we can meet standard data sovereignty requirements and maintain verified monitoring architecture without custom workarounds.
Under the framework of the EU GDPR, Swiss DPA, and regional national laws, many organizations and enterprise clients must guarantee strict data sovereignty. This requires that both critical workloads and their associated monitoring infrastructure remain within specific national borders to satisfy formal audits.
Currently, several native PRTG AWS v2 sensors cannot be deployed in these territories because the regions are missing from the built-in selection menu. The sensors are unable to fetch or display available options, affecting: AWS Alarm v2, AWS Cost, AWS EBS v2, AWS EC2 v2, AWS ELB v2 and AWS RDS v2.
Relying on custom script workarounds for standard metrics increases maintenance overhead and deviates from native platform standards required during official infrastructure evaluations.
Required European Regions:
AWS Europe (Spain) - EU Member -> Region Code: eu-south-2
AWS Europe (Zurich) - Switzerland -> Region Code: eu-central-2

AWS Official Infrastructure:
https://aws.amazon.com/es/about-aws/global-infrastructure/regions_az/

Therefore, it is very important for the development team to align the native AWS sensors with current European regional availability. How important is this feature for your organization? Please vote and comment below to let us know which AWS services you are currently forced to monitor using workarounds.

Hello Isidora,
Thank you for your update. Following your and Jörg's instructions, I have successfully opened a support ticket through the Paessler helpdesk portal.
In the ticket, I have explicitly detailed that this stems from our feature request regarding the AWS Europe Regions (Spain eu-south-2 & Zurich eu-central-2) bug. I also informed the support team that our environment is a PRTG Hosted Monitor instance, so they will need to enable the "category.paessler_AWS=DEBUG" flag from the backend infrastructure since we don't have direct access to the files.
Once they activate the logs and let me know, I will immediately run the metascan and provide the results.
Kind regards,

Hello JT,
Thank you for your feedback. We discussed this issue with developers, as we think this could be a bug. Please help us to solve the issue and open up a support ticket in the Paessler helpdesk portal. Please state that this derived from this feature request.
It would help us a lot if you could turn on the momo module log and send us the result. Here's how to do it:
1. Please enable momo logs for AWS.
2. In Logs\PRTG_GlobalLoggingConfiguration.logcfg add the line
category.paessler_AWS=DEBUG
3. Restart the PRTG core system.
4. Run a metascan of one of the AWS v2 sensors. PRTG will create Logs\debug\paessler_AWS.log where you can see, to which AWS regions the you have access to. It might be an access rights issue. If you have trouble with logs please ask the support colleagues for help.
Kind regards
