Automatic Cisco Meraki Network Health Sensor Creation with Template-Based Discovery
As an IT Infrastructure Manager, I want PRTG to automatically add Cisco Meraki Network Health sensors for new networks discovered in my Meraki Dashboard without requiring manual API key entry for each sensor, so that I can ensure comprehensive monitoring coverage across hundreds of networks while eliminating repetitive configuration tasks that don't scale with our rapid network deployment schedule.
Currently, there appears to be no way to have any new networks in Meraki Dashboard to be auto-discovered and added automatically to the Cisco Meraki Network Health.
When we create a new network in Meraki, we need to manually add it to the Device containing the Cisco Meraki Network Health sensors. Additionally, there is no way to add the sensor via API, or to clone and existing sensor as the "Network" field is "Read-Only".
Ideally, we could create a template or discover to automatically add new Meraki Network Health sensors, via a template (as we do for network interfaces on switches). Also allowing the "include/exclude" functions of templates.
We do also monitor the hardware via SNMP, but the Meraki Dashboard Sensors provide additional insight not available via SNMP.
Removing the manual intervention would help as we roll out hundreds of new Meraki Networks.
