Auto Discovery for multiple AD domains
The Auto Discovery function is limited to a single Active Directory domain. The DN (Distinguished Name) is reduced and does not contain any domain information.
Instead, the domain information is stored centrally in the Core & Probes area and thus applies to the entire environment.
For Auto Discovery, not only should the authorized user and OU be queried, but also the domain for this Auto Discovery. In large companies, multiple domains are often used and are not limited to individual subnets.2 votesThanks for submitting your idea, to Paessler! Add "device discovery" to Discovery With Template
Default Auto Discovery currently classifies the device (eg Cisco Device) and assigns an icon (eg Cisco). It also makes a smart attempt at figuring out device name.
Discovery With Template does not do any of this. I'd like to make better use of Discover With Template (so that I don't waste resources on probes I don't need, and don't have to clean up a default auto discovery) - but I really need the device recognition features from Default Auto Discovery. Device Recognition could be a checkbox when using Discover With Template.
